Das Leibniz-Gymnasium erhielt 1991 seinen Namen und liegt zentral im größten Wohngebiet Potsdams „Am Stern". Das Gymnasium ist das Kernstück des herausgehobenen Entwicklungsvorhabens „Campus Am Stern" und wurde in den Jahren 2006 bis 2009 generalsaniert. Getragen wird der Bildungsstandort weiterhin durch die benachbarte Grundschule „Am Pappelhain", die Musikschule „J.S.
